Just changed its name

As part of Black Awareness Month, Black Visions was presented at the Centro Cultural São Paulo, bringing together artistic interventions by emerging Black artists across different areas of the institution.
The exhibition proposed a unique route through the institutional space, shaped by both challenges and possibilities, while affirming Black presence through direct engagement with the public.

Some Things Can Only Be Opened from Within

Gleyson Borges exhibited Graduation, Some Things Can Only Be Opened from Within, and the series Just changed its name.
Taken together, the works introduced the visual and political vocabulary of the street into the institutional space, engaging questions of language, access, permanence, education, and memory. The installation further examined the ways in which historical violence against Black populations is continually reconfigured and sustained through contemporary social structures.

Graduation

Built through collective collaboration, Black Visions affirmed art as a site of symbolic struggle, political imagination, and the envisioning of alternative futures shaped by Black perspectives.
