The work Fuga was developed for the solo exhibition A Coisa Ficou Preta at Engenho Massangana, a museum located in a former sugar plantation that occupies the historic casa grande.
The intervention was conceived so that the casa grande itself would function as the support for the work, incorporating its physical presence and historical weight as fundamental elements of the piece. Within this context, the work symbolizes the enslaved people who had the courage to escape captivity in search of freedom—many of them direct ancestors responsible for the existence of present generations.
